About Barbara

The Personal Trainer and Coach for College and Career Searches at

I have been coaching teens and adults for over 25 years; however, launching kids through through high school, onto college and then off to their first career is my speciality. I use a variety of tools to identify a young person's best self - their strengths, personality traits, skills and natural abilities. We work together to develop individualized coping skills to navigate their young adult lives.

I believe our children are capable of making choices, learning, recovering from disappointments, and taking action. However, sometimes we all could use more information, direction, support and expertise to help us meet our goals. That's where a coach comes in.

Launch programs inspire mental resourcefulness and resilience by building natural strengths and talents through practice in real life situations. I help my clients practice coping skills by applying talents to master everyday activities – in classes, clubs, service projects, part-time work and internships. Through practice, they learn how to self-advocate by asking better questions, and they learn how to manage their weaknesses by problem solving and learning to adapt. Finally, I help our clients identify and explore their values and passions.

Before founding Launch, I was an Outplacement Consultant for Right Management/Manpower Group, Director Training and Organization Development for MEDIQ/Prn and Management Consultant for MARS, Inc. In addition, I founded Kids Who Care, Inc., a nonprofit specializing in Service-Learning and mentoring for children and teens. I have always been active in the business and non-profit sector, with organizations like Swift Youth Foundation, CASA, Prevent Child Abuse Ohio, and the ASU Gammage Theater.

I earned my B.A. in Industrial Psychology from Pennsylvania State University and M.S. in Group Process and Group Psychotherapy from Hahnemann University. I completed the Arizona Education Policy Fellowship Program at Arizona State University – a 10 month in-service leadership development program that emphasizes diversity and ethics. My clients appreciate my strategic vision and down-to-earth, practical approach to managing all types of personal and organizational issues. I am a dynamic instructor, facilitator and coach, with skills in creating unbiased, open, and inspiring learning environments. I have two daughters and a wonderful husband. My favorite activities are hiking, cooking and traveling.
