As a Gallup-Certified® Strengths coach using the Clifton StrengthsFinder 2.0® assessment, I have coached thousands of people in using a Strengths-based approach to help enable effectiveness, increase productivity, and win at life. I am a teacher at heart, and have spent the past 25 years educating, managing, and leading people of all ages to improve their performance through innovative professional development and strategic talent solutions. Raised in Boise Idaho, I dream of one day living in Ireland. I love to travel, outdoor adventures, live music, my three daughters, and helping others find their power within.
I recognize, appreciate, and share with listeners, that leadership is a moment-to-moment choice and not about title, tenure or position. Leadership is for everyone, every day. It's how we should live our life and I wholeheartedly believe in the phrase "Lead by example." I am passionate about inspiring people to lead at every level. I consider myself a builder of happiness in the workplace and have an unwavering belief that it is possible for everyone to love what they do. Business begins and ends with people. This truth allows me to make shifts in culture that positively affect not only the business itself, but the greater community. When teams are able to communicate with authenticity and trust, high performance is a by product. Finding what individuals are the best at and creating teams that leverage those strengths on a daily basis is what I do best. Cultivating internal leaders, partnership alignments, professional wellness, performance coaching, succession planning, and ultimately creating cultures where employees thrive is my ultimate goal.
My ability to provide coaching and strategic solutions in the areas of Strengths-based performance, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness. I have had the honor to work with such clients as: Skanska, Micron, Hewlett Packard, The Gap, Sensus Engineering, ESI Construction, ZGA Architecture, Downey Unified School District, Pomona Unified School District, Anthropologie, multiple Boards of Directors, private schools, various state departments and a variety of businesses ranging from the sole proprietor, non-profit organizations, start-ups, to fortune 500 businesses.

It's hard to believe it's been 20 years, but time flies when you are having fun. I have been coaching and training since 1998 and have worked in corporate board rooms, the non-profit arena, institutions of higher education, and one-on-one with people all over the country. I have great insight and when my Empathy and Communication talents start working together clients frequently tell me that I am able to put their thoughts into the words they "just hadn't been able to find."
I am a life-long learner and hold national certifications through • The Gallup Association • Association for Talent Development (ATD) • Talent Smart • The Center for Teacher Effectiveness • Institute of Organization Development (IOD) • American Council on Exercise (ACE).
I have a degree in Broadcast Management from the University of Kansas and a MBA from Georgia State University. Here's a fun fact about me – I am a travel- adventure junkie and when it comes to food- the spicier the better. I am looking forward to working with you or your team to uncover your possibilities for success.
I have over a decade of leadership experience with non-profits in East Asia, and my passion is to see people discover and live out their core identity and uniqueness, fulfilling their life purpose with vitality. Having overcome extreme adversity that led to clinical depression while living in Asia, I have found complete freedom and wholeness and am now known for my joy and vitality for life. I bring this same experience of breakthrough to my clients, helping them find joy and personal and professional development in the midst of the challenges and adversities they face. I live in Tennessee now and will transition to Switzerland in July of 2019 with my wife and our four young daughters.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege to coach and consult companies such as Herman Miller, Michelin, Eloqua (now part of Oracle), Ariba, General Motors, Medtronic, NCR, Harte-Hanks, Toshiba, Rubbermaid, Act-On Software, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Haworth, and Pitney Bowes. Although the details change from engagement to engagement, the objective is always the same: Help organizations and individuals get to where they can be.
Certified Five Capitals Coach; Certified StratOp Implementer and Facilitator
For a period of over 30 years, first as a corporate human resource management professional, more recently as a university professor, and now as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, a major part of my mission has been assisting individuals in the process of ‘learning how to learn.’ That endeavor has been characterized by a tripartite philosophy of teaching/education that views education as the key to knowledge, knowledge as the key to understanding, and understanding as the key to our continued collective existence. In service of that philosophy I take an approach to coaching that focuses on collaboratively helping clients learn to discover knowledge, rather than relying on a training model or rote learning, and strive to accomplish learning objectives within an environment of mutual respect and dignity. I look forward to partnering with you to achieve your goals!

Grow with Strengths - Growing People Growing Companies As an HR professional of a rapidly growing company in 2010, I fell in love with the philosophy of Strengths. I decided to lead the efforts in building a Strengths-based organization and never looked back. I was surprised at some of the things I saw early on in the process. Very quickly, people built strong relationships at work where they gave each other the benefit of the doubt. Over time, they challenged and supported each other more. We wove Strengths into the onboarding, performance systems, and everyday conversations and meetings - people and teams grew stronger, listened more effectively, and asked for help more. We built a culture that was so strong and obvious, both internally and externally. It helped our recruiting and retention. Managers became Coaches for their teams and gave feedback in real time.
What I believe to be true: When we pause to give each other the benefit of the doubt, we open up the opportunity to connect, understand and find the true value in ourselves and others.
I take the time to get to know each individual on the team - and we all dive in together. My style is energetic and thoughtful. I believe that we learn through practice and we have a lot of fun while we’re learning. I’ve been fortunate to do work that I’ve really loved for over 30 years in HR, talent development, coaching, employee engagement, and wellness.
Here's what I do well - please let me know if I can help you and your business. 1. Develop managers into great coaches that win. 2. Build a nimble organization poised for growth and change. 3. Build the culture you want to get the results you want. 4. Keep the great talent that you worked so hard to acquire.
Here's what people are saying about working with me as a coach or facilitator:
Cindy and I worked together from 2013-2017. In that time she exposed me to the wonderful world of StrengthsFinders. It was part of our on-boarding to take the assessment and learn about our strengths. As I learned more about the strengths I have, Cindy was there to help guide me and my team through team building workshops to see how these strengths worked together across the team. Cindy is very knowledgeable in StrengthsFinders and the work we did in her workshop changed the course of our team dynamic for the better. We were able to communicate more kindly to one another and utilize our strengths appropriately in the tasks and projects we were assigned. Cindy's work is beneficial to any team whether they are in rough waters or not. They will come out better than before with Cindy leading the boat.
I am in the superpower business. I help people name their talents, take ownership of them and then use them to do amazing things.
I am a Strengths sherpa. I help amazing people find their way by exploiting the talents they possess. I help them see the path forward, select and haul some of the tools while noting their successes and recommending ways to work past stuff that gets in the way.
I am especially interested in working with:
1. People at a transformational point who are trying to figure out what's next, like job seekers, career changers and those who feel stuck.
2. Organizations who want staff to be happier, more effective and more engaged. I have done this with government, libraries and non-profits.
3. Anyone desirous to be more aligned with their hows and whys.
I used to be a research librarian. I have a knack for helping people figure out the questions they are trying to ask and then helping find the resource that hold the answers. It's a librarian thing.
I used to be a Mariner. I have been in the middle of the ocean and found my way with the stars, a sextant and a compass. Now I help people find their way with their Strengths, desire and effort. It's a navigator thing.
So if you want to release your superpowers and you need a coach, a sherpa, a researcher, a navigator, then we need to talk.
